There are just a few days left until Canada celebrates its 145th birthday. Below is a list of Canada Day 2012 (all occurring on Sunday, July 1st) celebratory events to keep everyone busy. There are a number of celebrations going on this year in different cities and communities, so try out something new!

Coquitlam
Event: COQUITLAM CANADA DAY CELEBRATION 2012
Time: 12pm – 11pm
Location: Lafarge Lake & Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way)

This year, Coquitlam celebrates Canada’s 145th birthday with an incredible set up at Lafarge Lake and the Evergreen Cultural Centre. Visitors can spend the entire day perusing Coquitlam’s 7 unique villages (each representing a unique attribute about Canada) and submerse in the fantastic energy of live performances on the 5 different stages available.

Pitt Meadows
Event: PITT MEADOWS CANADA DAY 2012 CELEBRATION
Time: 10:30 am - TBA
Location: Pitt Meadows Spirit Square (12007 Harris Road)
FREE admission for the official ceremony
In lieu of Canada Day 2012, the Pitt Meadows community has put together a celebration which will entail an official ceremony commencing at 10:30am, bicycle rodeo, music, and singer performances. There will also be a 1KM and 2KM children’s race at 8:30am as well as an adult’s 8KM run beginning at 9:00am. For information about run admission and registration, click here

Surrey
Event: SURREY CANADA DAY 2012 CELEBRATION
Time:10am – 10:30pm
Location: Cloverdale Millennium Ampitheatre (176 Street and 64th Avenue)

Surrey celebrates Canada Day 2012 by offering the public free admission to watch the Global FMX freestyle motocross’ flying performances, as well as a generous list of Canadian performances during a live concert this year. Stage performers include the Sam Roberts Band, Hannah Georgas, Jordan Cook, Blaze of Glory – Bon Jovi Tribute Band, and many more.

Event: CANADA DAY 2012 ON GRANVILLE ISLAND

This year, Granville Island offers everything from an official Canada Day 2012 ceremony and an exciting parade, to live jazz music courtesy of CMHC Granville Island and the TD Vancouver International Jazz festival.

Event: CANADA DAY BURRARD INLET FIREWORKS SHOW
Location: Burrard Inlet near Canada Place
Time: fireworks start at 10:30pm

Continuing on with the annual Canada Day tradition, there will be a fireworks show presented by Coast Capital Savings, to light up the Vancouver sky again this year. Want to avoid the crowds? Viewers have the option to upgrade at a fee of $10 per person to secure a spot clear of obstruction along with easy access to restrooms.
